The demonstration is open to all Juneau community members and takes place at the SEARHC-Women, Infants, Children (WIC) nutrition program's classroom in the first floor of the SEARHC Dental-WIC-Behavioral Health Building, 3245 Hospital Dr. (lower part of SEARCH's Juneau campus)
This is a chance to learn how to cook some great meals, share a few friendly laughs and get a little health advice. Christy will demonstrate ways to cook meals that are tasty and healthy for people with diabetes. By learning how to eat healthy foods, getting regular physical activity and quitting tobacco, many people with diabetes and prediabetes can avoid the major complications of diabetes. If left unchecked, diabetes can result in heart problems, kidney failure, blindness, dental issues and foot amputations.
The Living Healthy With Diabetes support group is sponsored by the SEARHC health care team and open to all members of the community, not just SEARHC tribal health beneficiaries. For more information, contact Christy Wallace at 364-4457.
