Juneau Symphony showcases musicians

JUNEAU - The Juneau Symphony will present a "Symphony Showcase" Saturday, March 7 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, March 8 at 3 p.m. at Northern Light United Church, located at 400 W. 11th St

From Mozart to Cuban saxophone there's something for everyone. The Symphony's finest play solo and ensemble pieces of their choice in an intimate setting. Tickets $12 at the door.

The program is as follows:

• J.S. Bach's Suite #1 for unaccompanied cello, performed by Jack Hodges and Sue Kazama

• Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Divertimento No. 2 in B flat Major, K. 137, performed by Franz Felkl, Lindsay Clark, Pauline Zheng, Auri Clark, Colin Zheng, Denali Wentz, Tyrell Kramp and Keegan Goodell

• Pacquito D'Rivera's Vals Venezolano and Contradanza, performed by Bryan Johnson and Sue Kazama

• Zamba (Argentina) and Quisiera que se muera (Peru), arranged by Yvon Rivoal and Georges Lambert (composer unknown), performaed by Colleen Torrence and Bryan Johnson

• Mauro Giuliani's Scherzo from Grand Sonata Op. 85, performed by Colleen Torrence and Bryan Johnson

• Marcel Querat's Music for Flute and Alto Saxophone, performed by Colleen Torrence and Bryan Johnson

• Alice Gomez's Las Montañas, performed by Colleen Torrence, Sally Schlichting and Bryan Johnson

• Francis Poulenc's Sextet, performed by Mary Watson, Sally Schlichting, Jetta Whittaker, Sharon Hatch, William Todd Hunt and Bill Paulick
