JUNEAU - Juneau readers will have a chance to meet the new Alaska State Writer Laureate Nancy Lord, along with many local authors, at the Juneau Public Library's "Meet and Greet" event on Saturday, March 7 beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the downtown library.
Lord will be the featured speaker at the event. She was named State Writer Laureate Oct. 1, 2008 and will server a two-year term. She is the author of of three fiction collections - "The Compass Inside Ourselves," "Survival" and "The Man Who Swam with Beavers" - and three literary nonfiction books: "Fishcamp: Life on an Alaskan Shore," "Green Alaska: Dreams from the Far Coast" and "Beluga Days: Tracking a White Whale's Truths." She has also been a contributor to commentaries for the National Public Radio show "Living on Earth." Lord has lived in Homer since 1973.
Lord's books will be available for purchase at the event. More than 20 Juneau authors will be present to sign their books as well.
