Meet Mollie and her Big Sister, Cindy Allen. Mollie is a vivacious little girl with a winsome smile and a big heart. Her Big Sister, Cindy, a newlywed and recent transplant to Ketchikan from Minnesota, is an avid and talented crafter who also donated her time to lead a December 2009 activity making Christmas ornaments with Bigs and Littles. When Cindy went to visit Mollie as a school-based match at Houghtaling Elementary, one of the first things she did was braid Mollie's hair. Mollie showed off her new hairstyle at an October Big Brothers Big Sisters activity and was just beaming over the leather heart that Cindy had braided into her hair.
Mollie is thrilled over her match with Cindy and says, "I think we are a perfect match; we like the same things and she's just right for me."
Big Sister Cindy sees Mollie at school every Thursday for an hour. The pair have lunch together, visit, do arts and crafts or read a book. For Valentine's Day, the pair took a photo of Mollie's classmates and teacher and attached them to pencils with a bag of Tootsie Rolls.
