Breast cancer prevention and free health screening
The SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium is holding a "Hawaiian Spring Surf & Screen" event on March 14 at the Silverbow Inn's Back Room Restaurant in Juneau at 5 p.m.

Women and others who want to learn more about breast cancer prevention are invited to attend.

Beginning at 5 p.m., staff from the SEARHC WISEWOMAN program will offer free cholesterol, blood pressure and blood sugar screenings and an opportunity for women ages 30 to 64 to enroll in the SEARHC program.

All WISEWOMAN members will receive a free dinner; non-members will be asked to pay $5 for their meals.

At 6 pm, guests will be treated to a showing of the one-hour video Heart of the Sea, which tells the inspiring story of Hawaiian surfing legend Rell Kapolioka'ehukai Sunn, whose valiant fight for recognition in the sport of surfing paralleled her 15-year fight against breast cancer.

This event is open to the public. Hawaiian dress is optional.
