MATHCOUNTS is a nationwide program designed to improve math skills among U.S. students. Sponsors target 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students, who are at a crucial stage in developing and sustaining math interest and ability.

MATHCOUNTS is a volunteer non-profit organization. Our national sponsors cover expenses at the national competition, but all State and Chapter competition expenses are funded locally. The costs of promoting academic excellence are considerable and none of this is possible without the generous support of our local sponsors, who include B2 Engineering, Carson Dorn, Inc., Gorman Engineers, Haight & Associates, Inc., Hansen Engineering, Jensen Yorba Lott, Inc., MRV Architects, Murray & Associates, P. C., PND Engineering Inc., R & M Engineering, Rich Conneen Architects, Donald R. Beard - Tetra Tech/KCM, Inc., Dowl LLC/Toner-Nordling & Associates, Inc., & Wilson Engineering. Leadership is provided by members of the Alaska Engineering Education Foundation and the Alaska Society of Professional Engineers.

Good luck in Anchorage to all our competing Mathletes. If anyone would like any information concerning MATHCOUNTS, please contact Douglas Murray, P.E., Southeast Alaska MATHCOUNTS Coordinator, at 780-6151.
