Fairbanks' annual World Ice Art Championships, Feb. 20-March 28. Details: www.icealaska.com.

Whitehorse's Yukon Sourdough Rendezvous, February 25-28. Winter festival with sports, arts, as well as traditional games and entertainment including dog races, can can dancers, snowshoe shufflers, and the International Winter Air Show. Details: www.yukonrendezvous.com/.

Anchorage Fur Rendezvous, February 26-March 7. The festival started 75 years ago as a way to welcome miners and trappers to town. It features a fur auction, blanket toss, snowshoe-softball tournament, outhouse races, ice bowling, the Miners and Trappers Ball, and the Rondy World Championship Sled Dog Race. Sitka Arti Gras, March 5-14. Artists and musicians get together with workshops, live music and the Sitka Spring Gallery Walk. Details: www.artigras.info.

Southeast Alaska and Yukon Video Festival, March 13-15, Skagway. The first annual Winter Video Festival will be held in conjunction with this year's Back Country Bash and Ball. Details: Buckwheat, (907) 983-2854, or John Briner, jgbriner@yahoo.com.

Skagway's Buckwheat Ski Classic, March 27. 50K, 25K and 10K cross country ski races, as well as a 5K kids race. Pre-and post-race events in Skagway include a fabulous awards banquet and dance at the historic Eagles Hall. The race is a fund-raiser for the Skagway Ski Club and traditionally hosts more than 200 participants from Alaska, the Yukon and elsewhere. Details: (907) 983-2854.
