JUNEAU - The Juneau Federal Building recycling committee has worked for the past two years to promote and increase recycling in the Juneau Federal Building. As a result, the Federal Building's trash disposal has been reduced by 25 percent.
The recycling committee distributed informational posters and e-mails about how and what to recycle, and coordinated with GSA and REACH to install recycling stations in the post office lobby and on each floor of the federal building.
The committee also worked with GSA to include recycling pick-up from each floor in the recently renewed janitorial contract.
Employee volunteers from several federal agencies continue to facilitate and improve recycling within their agencies.
