Juneau - This spring break, the Juneau-Douglas City Museum is offering a springtime version of it's popular summer program, Juneau Explorers Week. The week includes a variety of outdoor and indoor activities for youth ages 8-11 that explore Juneau's history, art and culture. For this program, the city museum teamed up with MK MacNaughton of the Canvas Art Studio to offer an array of arts and craft activities.
The schedule of activites is as follows:
Monday: Then & Now: Historic downtown architecture tour and Alexander Calder-inspired mobiles and wire construction
Tuesday: Ice skating & Andy Goldsworthy-inspired art with a splash of Jackson Pollock
Wednesday: Sketches of Juneau: a tour of public art and painting based on sketches
Thursday: Bird beaks, bird-watching and make your own bird mask
Friday: History of Juneau-Douglas basketball and ball art
Juneau Explorers Spring Break will run from 12:30 - 4:30 p.m. daily from Monday, March 23 through Friday, March 27. The cost is $23 a day or $115 for the entire week, and includes all materials and fees. Pre-registration and pre-payment are required.
