UAS presents “Art of Place – Learning from our Elders”

Juneau – A special event featuring renowned Alaska Native artists has been organized by University of Alaska Southeast (UAS) faculty Ernestine Hayes.

“Art of Place – Learning from our Elders” will be held Friday, Feb. 17 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Glacier View Room on the second floor of the Egan Classroom Wing on the UAS Auke Lake campus. A potluck follows. The event features elders Della Cheney and Ed Kunz. Cheney will share her knowledge of basketry. Kunz will be teaching carving.

Future Art of Place events are planned for spring. The Art of Place series is funded by the Margaret A. Cargill Foundation.
