FAIRBANKS — The Fairbanks Arts Association is accepting entries for the 23rd Annual Statewide Poetry Contest. This year the judge is Jeremy Pataky, a founding former board member and Executive Director of 49 Writers, a literary nonprofit in Alaska.

The 23rd Annual Statewide Poetry Contest has submission categories for adults and elementary, middle, and high school students. Each author may submit up to four poems, which must be original, unpublished works. First, second, and third place winners win cash prizes.

In April, first place winners will broadcast their pieces on KUAC public radio station, and all winners are invited to participate in a public reading hosted by Fairbanks Arts Association.

Poems may be submitted online via web form, postal service, or hand delivered. For information on entry fees, entry application form, submission guidelines, and prizes visit www.fairbanksarts.org. For elementary, middle and high school students, it costs $3 per poem or $10/four poems. For adults, its $4 per poem or $13/ four poems.

The deadline for submissions is 6 p.m., Feb. 15.
