Dear Editor,
My name is Alexander Ivanov, I am 26 years old and I am looking for my father - Pavel Ivanov (born July, 26-th, 1962) - whom I have not seen since the age of 6. My father was a sea-cook. On 26th of May in 1993 he was washed overboard from fishing boat "Sunrise" during a storm. It happened in the Gulf of Alaska at about 18 miles from Cordova. He was looked for by divers later, but they did not find him.
Still I believe that my father is alive. I think that he might have been picked up by some boat or vessel which was nearby at that moment and which possibly took him to a completely different place or territory. This is why I am asking for your help.
I also think that my father might have lost his memory as a result of being in cold water for a long time or because of the general shock, which he had to go through. For this particular reason I attached my father's two photos to this letter and I ask you to publish them in your newspaper. Maybe somebody can recognize him. Or if my father sees the photos, he may recognize himself, and so he may be able to recollect everything.
The loss of my father is a trouble not only to me, but especially to my grandmother. She is 77 years old and she is still waiting for her son to return. It is a great pain to her as a mother, because she does not know what happened to her son, whether he is alive or not.
Me and my family would be very much obliged to you, if you could help me to find my father. We have not seen him for almost 20 years. Please.
