Northern Light United Church has given four grant totaling nearly $20,000 to Juneau organizations providing music education for Juneau youth. The grants were made possible by proceeds from the Ruth Dae and Louis Eugene Anderson Endowment Fund. During her long career, Ruth Anderson contributed to the Juneau Music Community as a piano teacher, violinist and choir director. The endowment was established expressly for music education for children and youth in Juneau.

The organizations receiving grants are the Alaska Youth Choir, and The Juneau Community Charter School Guitar program, and the Juneau Alaska Music Matters (JAMM) programs at both Glacier Valley Elementary School and Riverbend Elementary. Funds will provide scholarships, buy instruments and employ additional afterschool music instructors.
