Juneau teacher wins award from restaurant association

Patrick Roach, a culinary teacher at Thunder Mountain High School in Juneau, has been selected as the Alaska's Educator Excellence Award winner for 2013 by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation. He will receive a free trip to the association's conference in May.

Roach, along with two local chefs, Chef David Moorehead with The Breeze Inn and Chef Jonah with MiCasa, will take students to Anchorage for the Alaska Pro Start Competition on Feb. 23, sponsored by the National Restaurant Association Education Foundation.
