Ms. Helming was invited to return to Juneau to work with young violin and viola players of all ages and levels. She has a master's degree in violin performance from the Yale School of Music and received her training at the Hartt School of Music. In addition to a busy performing schedule, she teaches at Suzuki institutes throughout the Pacific Northwest and Alaska.
Parents at last year's workshop were enthusiastic about Tracy's warmth, technical ability and humor as she worked with students. The Annual String Workshop will include a variety of options, including private lessons, group lessons, small master classes, ensemble coaching and more. Classes will be held at the Egan Wing of the University of Alaska Southeast.
The workshop concludes with a recital at UAS by participants on Sunday, March 8 at 5 p.m., which is free and open to the public. Workshop scholarships are available.
The specific schedule and registration forms will be available on the festival website soon at www.jazzandclassics.org.
