Home Depot announced last week that it was cutting 7,000 jobs, but Alaska employees and stores won't be cut at all, according to a company spokeswoman.
The Georgia-based home improvement chain is eliminating EXPO, its high-end decor business, and the 5,000 people who worked for it. It's also cutting another 2,000 employees. In all, the cuts are 2 percent of the company's 300,000-person workforce.
Home Depot has three stores in Anchorage, and one each in Wasilla, Fairbanks and Juneau.
