Volunteers Needed: American Cancer Society Daffodil Days

The American Cancer Society is currently looking for volunteers to sell, deliver and wrap daffodil bouquets during its annual Daffodil Days campaign in Anchorage, Eagle River, Mat-Su, Juneau, and Fairbanks. Volunteers are needed for:

• Daffodil Sales -- to serve as community and workplace sales representatives, taking orders and payments for daffodil bouquets from co-workers, friends and family, staring now through March 4.

• Wrapping Party - to participate in the annual bouquet wrapping party on Saturday, March 5.

• Flower Delivery -- to deliver flowers locally on Monday, March 7 and Tuesday, March 8.

For over a decade, the American Cancer Society has marked the beginning of spring with Daffodil Days. Daffodil Days is a five-week sales campaign, from January 24 to February 23, where volunteers across Alaska sell daffodil bouquets to raise money to support American Cancer Society research, advocacy initiatives, patient service programs and educational services, making a healthy future possible for hundreds of patients and their families.

Corporations, organizations and individuals can join the fight against cancer by volunteering as a Daffodil Days sales rep, or by purchasing bouquets for clients, colleagues, friends and families. The cost of a single daffodil bouquet is $8, or $12 with the purchase of a decorative vase.

In addition, groups can support the fight against cancer by adopting a local medical center, hospital or convalescent home through the Daffodil Days Gift of Hope program. When a Gift of Hope is purchased, a daffodil bouquet is delivered anonymously to a cancer patient at a local hospital or treatment center. Gift of Hope donations start at $12.

Daffodil orders of 15 or more bouquets that are purchased during the official sales period (January 24 through February 23) will be delivered to your home or business on March 7 and 8.

American Cancer Society Daffodil Days corporate sponsors include Carrs/Safeway, Tote, Alaska Marine Lines, and American Fast Freight.
