Juneau engineer receives two prestigious awards

R & M Engineering, Inc. is proud to announce that Malcolm A. Menzies has received the Distinguished Service Award from the Alaska Recreation & Park Association. This achievement award is for deserving individuals and/or groups whose voluntary contribution of time and effort over a period of years has improved the quality and quantity of leisure opportunities through park, recreation and conservation projects on a local, state, regional, or national level.

Menzies has also been selected for induction into the Surveying Hall of Fame by the Alaska Surveying and Mapping Conference. The "Hall of Fame Award" honors persons who have made exemplary and sustained contributions to the surveying and mapping profession. This is the highest honor awarded by the Alaska surveying and mapping community. He will receive the award and be inducted into the Hall of Fame at the 39th Annual Alaska Surveying and Mapping Conference on February 24, 2005 in Anchorage.

Mr. Menzies has been a registered Alaskan Land Surveyor since 1965; a U.S. Mineral Surveyor since 1982; and a registered Alaskan Civil Engineer since 1969.

During 1969, Mr. Menzies was one of the four founding principals of R&M Engineering and Geological Consultants in Fairbanks Alaska, where he worked on a variety of projects throughout Alaska. From 1970 to 2000, he was the principal engineer and manager of the R&M Engineering, Inc.-Juneau office. He currently remains a principal engineer/surveyor with R&M - Juneau.
