Brewfest ticket sales begin Feb. 1

HAINES- Ticket sales for the 25th annual Great Alaska Craft Beer and Home Brew Festival begin Feb. 1. Festival dates are May 26 and 27 in Haines.

As many as 20 breweries from Alaska and the Yukon attend the festival each year to share their best brews with 1,900 beer lovers from far and wide.

In 1992, The Great Alaska Craft Beer and Home Brew Festival began with a few vendors and a small group of attendees on the Fort Seward Parade Grounds in Haines. In the years since, “Beer Fest” has grown from a local event to a well-known and anticipated regional event, attracting sell-out crowds and drawing breweries from Alaska, the Yukon, and the Pacific Northwest.

Alaska’s longest-running and best-loved craft beer festival opens Friday, May 26 with a home brew contest followed by a five-course, gourmet dinner with craft beer pairings for 250 ticket holders. This year’s dinner is catered by Lionel Uddipa, Executive Chef at SALT restaurant in Juneau, Alaska.

Saturday, May 27 kicks off with the Slammin’ Salmon 5k Walk or Run and 10k Run. Gates for the festival open at Noon for a connoisseur’s hour, and at 1 p.m. for general festival admission. Festival goers enjoy craft beer samples from all over Alaska, the Yukon, and beyond, poured by brewery representatives. Live music, food vendors, and games complete the festival atmosphere.

Tickets sell out far in advance of the festival, and are available online at seakfair.org.

The Great Alaska Craft Beer and Home Brew Festival benefits the Southeast Alaska State Fair, a non-profit organization devoted to agricultural and domestic arts, creative arts and crafts, and the opportunity for providing a showcase for educational, cross-cultural and social exchange for Southeast Alaska and the Yukon.
