JUNEAU - University of Alaska faculty and student researchers will discuss changes observed in the Mendenhall Glacier during the summer of 2008 at a Fireside Lecture to be held Jan. 30 at 6:30 and 8 p.m. at the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor's Center. The experts will share the results of their glacier and lake surveys. Time-lapse photography will be used to illustrate the story of recession.

The lecture is part of a series of free lectures offered at the Glacier Visitor Center every Friday through March 27. For more information call 789-0097. Visitor Center winter hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday through Sunday.
