KETCHIKAN - Gregg Harrison is owner and operator of Diversified Diving. He is a rugged individual, a quintessential Alaskan.
Harrison and his mentee, Lashawn, became fast friends over the course of two years. They bonded over their enjoyment in the great outdoors, watching movies and cooking.
"We go check out the girls as well", Harrison adds playfully.
LaShawn is like a character out of a Jack London novel: He's interested in trapping, fishing, hunting, the wilds and surviving in the outdoors. He's an avid reader, and likes spending time with Harrison.
LaShawn says he likes his Big Brother Harrison "because he's fun" and is LaShawn's "best buddy."
LaShawn especially enjoyed kayaking with Harrison as they out-paddled the rest of their group.
Harrison says that LaShawn is game to try anything, and that is what Harrison likes about him.
"We go exploring, fishing up the creeks and climbing trails. We both like to see what is on the other side of the hill."
