Five Southeast residents have been included in the 2012 Top Forty Under 40 by the Alaska Journal of Commerce. Each year 40 up-and-coming leaders are recognized for demonstrating professional excellence and a commitment to community.
The majority of the 40 are Anchorage residents, but a handful of them hail from Southeast, including Karl Heinz of Haines, J. Kate Burkhart and Russell Dick of Juneau and Gretchen Klein and Erin Elizabeth Uloth of Ketchikan. Heinz serves as vice president and branch manager of First National Bank Alaska. Burkhart is executive director on the Advisory Board on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse. Dick is president and CEO of Haa Aani, a subsidiary of Sealaska Corporation. Klein is the interim director of Big Brothers Big Sisters as well as the Ketchikan liaison for the Association for the Education of Young Children. Uloth is Partnerships and Public Affairs Officer for the U.S. Forest Service.
This year's recipients will be recognized at an honorary luncheon in March at Anchorage's Dena'ina Civic and Convention Center.
