JUNEAU - Perseverance Theatre's stage will be host to a new play, "Animals Out of Paper," opening Jan. 27.
The play follows an origami artist whose husband and dog have left her. At rock bottom, she lives alone in her messy art studio. She is befriended by an admiring math teacher who introduces her to a brilliant student with folding talent to rival her own.
Directed by Flordelino Lagundino, this production features Juneau actors Elizabeth Pisel-Davis, James Sullivan and Junior Davidson. Local radio favorite Andy Kline designs the sound, and longtime Juneau theatre artist Marta Lustufka designs the costumes. Guest artist Laura Eckelman designs the lights, and Perseverance Theatre Artistic Director Art Rotch designs the set.
Animals Out of Paper runs through Feb. 12 with performances Thursdays through Sundays at 7:30 p.m., and a closing 2 p.m. matinee on Feb. 12. The show will have two preview performances Jan. 25 and 26, and two pay-as-you-can performances Jan. 29 and Feb. 2.
