Milliree Morgan

  Mrs. Morgan
PETERSBURG - Services for Milliree Morgan have been scheduled for 2 p.m. on Feb. 5 at the Church of Christ.

Milliree Morgan died Jan. 2 at Petersburg Medical Center.

She was born on July 7, 1920 in Juneau to Susan Isabelle and George Jorgenson and married Paul Morgan in 1939. They moved to Sitka shortly thereafter where Paul joined a crew to construct the Sitka Hotel and quickly became part of the community.

Milliree worked about town at the Sears Catalog Store, the Post Office and as "Rocky" Gutierrez's secretary at the City Offices. She was known for her quick step and even quicker smile. Milliree was a great storyteller and loved to tell about her life in Sitka from her arrival as a new bride, through the World War II days, living the joys and trials of a fisherman's wife and on until the present. Milliree opened her heart to many and enjoyed time spent with friends at the Double O before moving to Petersburg in the spring of 2004 to be near her daughter.

In addition to many friends, Milliree is survived by her daughter Connie Morgan, her sister Janis Rountree, nieces and nephews Susan Millard, Robert Millard, Mike Millard, Jamie Sorg, Nick Peterson, Bill Peterson and Renda Heimbigner. In lieu of flowers, donations in Milliree's honor may be made to Sitka Senior Center, 404 Lake Street, Sitka, Alaska 99835.
