Swim meet set Jan. 26-28 in Juneau
Great Alaska Open
Glacier Swim Club is holding the annual state senior championships (Great Alaska Open) swim meet Jan. 26-28, at Augustus Brown Pool. The meet starts at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26. Preliminaries for races will start at 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 27-28, with finals (top 12 from prelims) starting sometime in the afternoon at about 3 or 4 p.m.

There are more than 100 athletes from across the state coming, this meet is open to anyone, and there are no age groups. Swimmers may compete in up to four individual races and five relays. They must have met the qualifying times to participate. There are 26 swimmers attending from Juneau, and 20 from other Southeast towns, including Petersburg, Ketchikan, Sitka and Haines.

The meet will be a mix for local children, most are training for Southeast Alaska Champs in February or sectionals in Federal Way in March.
