Contra Dance

From 7:30-9:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, at the Terry Miller Legislative Offices

gymnasium (the Old Capital School gym). Use 6th St. entrance. Live music with Full Circle and dance caller Tom Paul. All dances taught. Beginners are welcome and no partners are necessary. Bring clean,

soft-soled shoes for dancing. Cost is $3. Call 463-3214.

Swing and Charleston

Put some jump in your step this winter with Swing and Charleston classes. Alysia McLain and John Leo are teaching two levels of the kicky and tricky style. No partner is necessary. Classes are 6-7:15 p.m. for intermediate and 7:30-9 p.m. for beginners Wednesdays through April 4, at the Ruby Room in the Emporium Mall. Classes are $10 each or $80 for all 10 classes if paid in advance.

Contact Improvisation

Come dance this post-modern social dance form, which is a mix between wrestling, swing and tai-chi from 7-8:30 p.m. Feb. 1-April 5, at the Ruby Room in Emporium Mall. Through centering the mind in the body and through developmental movement principals, students will learn howto take care of their bodies while offering support. No prior dance experience orpartner required. Cost is $5 per class.
