SITKA - Dylan Blackhurst was the first baby of 2014 born at the SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium S'áxt' Hít Mount Edgecumbe Hospital in Sitka.
The little tike was born at 4:12 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 7. His parents are Carl and Amber Blackhurst of Sitka. Dylan Blackhurst weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces, an was 20.75 inches long at birth. Dr. Donna Smith delivered Dylan, with the assistance of Lynn Northrup, R.N. and Tracy West, R.N.
Dylan Blackhurst joins one older brother, Daniel, who is 2 ½ years old. Amber Blackhurst works in the SEARHC Outpatient Department and Carl Blackhurst works for Mount Edgecumbe High School.
As the first baby of the new year born at S'áxt' Hít Mount Edgecumbe Hospital, the baby and his parents received several special gifts donated by local businesses. Businesses that donated gifts are Agave, The Pub, Sitka Flowers, Brenner's, Silver Basin, Stereo North, Sitka Lutheran Church, Evergreen Natural Foods, Pizza Express, Old Harbor Books, Home Plus, Hair Loft, Sweet Peas, Bev's Flowers, Airport Gift Shop and SEARHC.
