JUNEAU - The congregation at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church welcomed Pastor Tari Stage-Harvey as permanent pastor. The church has been without a permanent pastor for almost two years. Pastor Stage-Harvey's first presided at worship services Jan. 18.
Shepherd of the Valley's previous pastor of 17 years, Pastor Larry Rorem, retired May 2007.
Pastor Tari Stage-Harvey most recently served congregations in the upper peninsula of Michigan. She is originally from Columbus, Ohio and attended seminary there at Trinity Lutheran Seminary. She is familiar with Southeast Alaska, as she served from 1993 to 1994 as a Presbyterian Volunteer in Mission in Angoon. She and her husband Kirt look forward to being part of the Juneau community. The couple has three children.
