Michele earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Kentucky in Lexington, and a Master of Science in Nursing from Spalding University in Louisville, Ky. She is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center Commission on Certification and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Program. Michele has been inducted into the Iota Gamma Chapter of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
As a Family Nurse Practitioner, Michele worked with a mobile health clinic in Lexington, Ky., and worked in emergency departments in Southeastern Kentucky and Southwestern Montana.
In Alaska, Michele spent 2 ½ years living and working in the Alutiiq villages of Port Graham and Nanwalek on the Kenai Peninsula. While making her way to Kake, she worked in Haines for a couple of months at the SEARHC Haines Health Center.

Michele's medical interests include Native people's health concerns and naturopathic herbs and diets, family medicine and pediatrics with an emphasis on wellness promotion and preventive medicine, and emergency medicine. She also enjoys hiking, biking, snow sports (including downhill and cross-country skiing and snowshoeing), bird watching, and she is learning about kayaking.
