Would you take the time to help? Some teenagers don't participate in any school activities, because they can't afford it or because the school doesn't offer the sport they like. This is were you come in. More choices would make kids more active. That's why we need a bigger variety of sports. If the school has the opportunity to offer more activities, why wouldn't they? Floyd Dryden and D'zantiki Heeni should get more sports.
To begin with, more choices would make kids more active, My older brother, Chris Walkenford, who's a sophomore at JDHS says.
"It's a good idea to have more sports for middle schools, but it takes money and time away from high school sports, which matter more." If we got more sports like Baseball and Football, it can get us ready for the high school sports, which can be helpful.
I took a survey asking, "Do you think that Floyd Dryden and DZ should get more sports?" and a total of 82% said yes, while 18% said no."
Gidget Walkenford says, "Sports keep kids out of trouble and in shape, the more sports the better".
Furthermore, if there are more activities, then it means more fun. The more sports a kid participates in, the more fun they can have. Especially if it's a sport they're really good at. Maybe you and your friends want to try a sport, but you've already tried the ones at school, and you're looking for something different. That wouldn't happen if we got more school activities.
Lizelle Uddipa, says, "I think that it's a great idea to have more sports because it's one way to stay healthy and it also helps relieve stress."
Currently, not many kids are participating in sports as much as they want to, because the schools don't offer the sports they like. Some of the most popular sports are baseball, football, and basketball. At Floyd Dryden and D'zantiki Heeni we only offer one of these three, which is basketball. There are a lot of kids that would participate more if there were more to choose from. The regular school sports like wrestling, soccer, basketball, and volleyball have been around forever, and it's time for a change.
If both schools get more sports then we could have happier students. If your child is going to school at Floyd Dryden or D'zantiki Heeni, why wouldn't you want them to be active? Take the time to think about it, but remember that kids need to be active; so, why wouldn't you want more choices?
