ASCA names new executive director

Andrea Noble-Pelant from Eagle River, Alaska, was recently appointed as the new executive director of the Alaska State Council on the Arts (ASCA). She served as the acting executive director since May 2016, after the departure of Shannon Daut.

For a decade, Noble-Pelant has served as the visual and literary arts program director for ASCA. Her duties included grants administration, fiscal oversight, policy and partnership development, and management of Alaska’s Percent for Art Program. She also has experience in a wide range of artistic disciplines including visual arts, music, theater and literary arts.

Noble-Pelant holds a Bachelors of Fine Arts with honors in Visual Arts from the University of Western Ontario and a Bachelors of Education in Secondary Art from the University of British Columbia. For nine years she was an arts and world languages educator in the US and Canada, and served for three years as the Curator of Art Education at the Anchorage Museum of History and Art at Rasmuson Center.

For the past thirty years, Noble-Pelant has been dedicated to the arts, with eighteen of those years in Alaska. In addition to her professional work, Noble-Pelant has been involved in the visual and performing arts as an exhibitor and participant, has worked on funding development for non-profit organizations, and has managed projects connecting educators and students with arts education.
