NEWS Capital City Weekly Southeast Alaska is an incredible playground for the adventurous. Whenever we lose sight of this, we need merely look at what our neighbors are spending their weekends doing. Some make a career out of outdoor exploration; for others, it's just a hobby. Here are a few of the individuals who impressed us with their outdoor activities in 2009.

Outdoor explorers remind us of our backyard wonders

Up For the Challenge: Raymond Carpenter: Raymond Carpenter was the only athlete from Southeast to participate in the Special Olympics in 2009.
