Juneau Bike Week sets 10,000-mile goal

In conjunction with National Bike to Work Day and National Bike Month, Juneau will be holding a Juneau Bike Week for the first time this year. The events leading up to the Bike to Work Day on May 16 include a challenge to Juneau residents to collectively ride 10,000 miles from May 10-16.

Juneau's Raptor Center released two bald eagles into the wild on Saturday. One of the birds was from Hoonah and the other was delivered from Gustavus. Both had serious injuries preventing them from flying. The Raptor Center's Janet Capito said they are hopeful a third eagle will soon be released back into the wild.
